Kernel_task at 400% after water damage

I got water on my macbook air and after drying it in a bag of rice for a few days everything is working except for the fan kicks on immediately as well as the kernel_task is going anywhere from 150% to 600% of the cpu.

I've taken it apart and cleaned both sides of the motherboard, fan, ssd, airport card for any signs of corrosion. I've replaced the thermal paste. No dice.

I've heard that the airport card may cause it so I took that out completely but has the same issue. I've even reformatted the hd and started with a fresh os. Same thing.

Also reset both PMU and PRAM.

Any other ideas?

Drying in rice was a good start... it helps but doesn't "fix" anything. You also followed up with cleaning... hope you used 90% or better alcohol as drying agent... less % contains too much water.

You can try an SMC reset.. you may have corrupt NVRAM or SMC data.

Try a safe boot and see if that changes anything... (many fonts and extensions (apple speak for drivers) are not loaded in a Safe Boot.

You may have a damaged CPU or a damaged Sensor. Without running Apple Diagnostics can't say for certain.
