Water split... dismantled... need direction/advice

Awhile back i split beer on my mid 2010 A1342. At first half the keys weren't working then shortly after that the computer wouldn't start anymore. It still charged fine with the orange/green lights coming on on the charger. I have completely dismantled the computer and the only damage I see is a little corrosion at the right speaker connector and sleep LED connector on the logic board. Everything else looks fine. I would greatly appreciate any advice regarding which steps should be taken next. New logic board? or simply a clean? new upper case? how to clean? possible to test what's working without putting everything back together? Thanks for any help and info!

Only you know your capabilities and budget,

Yes a logic board replacement and most likely a top case replacement are in order. Follow the tags at right to see what you're in for... logic board replacement is a very advanced DIY project as it requires completely disassembling then reassembling the entire machine.

As for cleaning use 99% alcohol or better (less has to much water in it). Dry thoroughly before attempting to boot.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

Thanks for the response! I've got an update. I ordered a logic board and installed it. When I went to turn on the macbook - nothing. It's the exact same that it was with the previous logic board. So obviously I could be the victim of ordering a bad logic board. Other than that, do you have any idea what could be the problem? Could the battery be fried even though my charger shows that it's charging? I can't think of anything else that would keep the computer from powering on.

Did you replace the top case (power button, keyboard and track pad all run through that one connector to the logic board).? You can temporarily verify the logic board by jump starting it. This is a test procedure only. You don't have to completely reassemble the machine but you do need RAM,FANS, power and a display. Unplugging the power will kill the machine... but don't make a habit of this (be very careful working on a "hot" board- not to short it out by touching anything else).
