Water Damage Problem with iPhone 5s. Battery problem?
So my friend jumped into a pool with his iPhone 5s about a week ago. The phone was in a completely closed case (Otterbox Defender Series, I know it isn't waterproof) and was underwater for about 8 to 10 seconds. When this happened, the iPhone was about 80% charged and was in perfect condition. After the iPhone went for a swim, he turned off the phone and put it in rice for about 36 to 48 hours.
After he took it out, he plugged it in and it was stuck in a boot loop with the dead battery icon and then follows to the apple logo, where 3 seconds later the phone would shut off again. He came over and I opened up the phone and took a look on the inside. The water damage sensors on the logic board were all dark red. The phone was completely dried out and I then went to my laptop and plugged it into iTunes and ran an iTunes Restore on it. Then the phone worked, for about 3-4 hours. Now it is doing the same thing again where it will not turn on unless plugged in and says the battery is dead right when plugged in.
It is worth noting that when I plugged it into iTunes, it was on a dark screen but in recovery mode after seeing the apple logo for about 4 seconds. It might be the battery, but I am not sure. Thanks for reading this very long paragraph. Someone please help me. Thanks. If any other information is needed to help, please ask!
