Nope. This solution did'nt help for me. I have the same issue like any other up the topic. Acer Aspire 5750G notebook model. Sometimes during usual work it blinks all 3 LED - Power button, Power led, and charge led. Nothing help: not holding power button when laptop off, not when replace charge plug and charge socket. All soldering are good for view. And i want ask a question for well-known electricians - Where can be problem at the motherboard? What switch is out of order? What chip is dead? What the f*ck i need to repair, replace , re-weld component? Is it processor socket? Some guys talks about to throw away your notebook, because it problem with processor and not able to repair.

Need all of your help. What kind of SMD component i need to replace. I know - there are some switches (micro-chips) that used in power chain, some for battery charge, some for power notebook.

Thanks a lot all your answer.

I have an Acer Swift 1. It too conked out with black screen and unable to repower.

I found an easy solution for my case.

1. Check the bottom of your laptop and look with a magnifying glass if necessary for a very small symbol of a battery. I don’t know which Acer models will have this setup.

2. Above that symbol you will see a tiny hole.

3. Put a pin or needle through the hole and press down for five seconds.

4. Wait for several minutes then power up. It worked for me.

5. I found this solution on a web site that I cannot now find!

6. I cannot find any reference to this procedure nor indeed to the symbol and pinhole in Acer manuals. I believe this approach removes static: you may have to repeat it once or twice to clear the machine.

chevenee, unplug the power cord, remove the battery then hold power button down for 10 seconds. Put battery back in and plug power back in. See what happens. Also, you do want to measure the Voltage on the barrel connector and see what your voltage is. As for" push the charger in harder to make it work my laptop shuts off." it does sound like a bad DC jack. you may have to disassemble your Acer and see if the board is cracked on the DC jack or if it is the solder that has cracked. Hope this helps, good luck.

My acer is doing the same, actually both of them. As soon as I start the computer and plug in my charger the power button flashes 1 blink per second and battery stops charging. I removed the battery, held down the power button for 20 secs and it started fine, I connected the charger and after 5 minutes the light did the same.

with the charger connected and no battery my computer works, is this a sign of a bad charger?

i tried doing the unplugging and pushing the power button for 10s but did not work.

I just fixed this problem on my 5750, one of the connections to the DC jack had snapped off so was only making intermittent contact. No new parts required but I did have to strip it down to get at the problem and solder the connection back on.

The laptop switching itself off when you apply too much pressure to the dc connection is a separate issue you can deal with at the same time - the DC jack is stuck down with glue, which doesn't do the job so if you angle the power cable wrong it will move up enough to hit the power button from below. Sloppy design from Acer, but you just need to re-secure the jack so it can't move.

I have exactly the same problem! I opened the laptop till the motherboard, and I saw that a cable from the jack is unplugged. Also when I hold the charging cable in a specific position for 6 seconds, the laptop turns off. I delt with it by just making the laptop screen turn off and when it turns off I will quickly unplug the charger and plug it again. Can you tell me how you connected the cable to the jack? Thank you man! I thought I f*cked up the entire motherboard or something!

Sounds like the dc charging port is going bad. Have the same problem & I'm ordering a new charging harness. This plugs into the main board & is not a super hard repair. That should solve the problem.

I was having the same problem with my Aspire 5750, purchased in late 2011. I did the following experiments before I've came to a fix:

1- Fix the charger itself, since it had a snappy cable (it almost broke). The problem got temporarily fixed and it's charging again, but the problem worsened a month after.

2- I sent the laptop then for a further investigation, a third party shop wanted to see if the issue was in the DC jack, but it was all fine. All they did was reapply a fix to the charger itself, again.

3- The problem is gone again, but is now back only a week later. I really got !#^&@@ off so all what was left for me to do is trying a static discharge. I got both the battery and charger off , pressed the power button for a whole minute (I know it's too much but I just wanted to make sure the mobo is entirely discharged), and I plugged everything back in. HOORAY! It works like a charm now: The power light never blinks and now my laptop won't shut down when the battery is taken off.

I'm not sure what exactly fixed the issue, but I can only guess a static discharge must be done often.

Hi,

About the LED light still being on even if you shut it down, here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.

- Start going into BIOS and set it into defaults, press F9 and select Yes to set defaults.

- If these doesn't work download and install the latest BIOS update there is from Lenovo's support site.

- If all these will not work I would suggest running a complete factory reset.

For the Sleep Mode issue that won't wake up:

- Go to Device Manager and expand Mouse right click on it and select Properties.

- Click on Power Management tab and make sure there's a check on Allow this device to wake the computer.

- Do the same with Keyboard, set it to wake the PC up as well.

- Once done test it with sleep mode again.
