The designation A1278 is practically useless it pertains to 12 different 13" machines from 09 to 012. As Oldturkey03 pointed out you need to provide a more specific identifier of your machine and the board - if it's not an 09 board it will not work in your case..
Due to case and display changes (ports and screw holes) you generally can not cross model years but you can go from a base logic board to a custom higher speed machine... e.g. in the 09's a 2.4GHz board would fit in a 2.0 machines case.

Quentin Lemonnier, what is your computers serial number? That will help us to properly identify your existing logic board and possibly find a right substitute. You are usually ok if you stay within the same series, same year.
