My computer acknowledges that the iPod is connected and it signals that it is charging. It also syncs music very well and also indicates charging on my Actimate docking station. But when I disconnect it, the battery seems to keep draining. And when I connect it to my Apple USB 12w adapter, it doesn't indicated charging or anything. I also bought a new USB adapter.

Bona, I would replace the battery first. This way you have a know good starting point in case it is not the battery that is failing. The indication for that is "the battery seems to keep draining". Use these guides to work on your iPod. Hope this helps, good luck.
