Why does my iPhone 5s have a red screen?

I recently changed my screen. After that, everything worked just fine. But when my phone died, I was trying to charge it, and a red screen showed up. The first time it happened, I fixed it. Then, I tried turning off the phone and it happened again, but I was able to fix it. The last time was the other night. My phone battery drained again so when I was trying to turn it back on, the red screen showed up and now sometimes a blue screen shows up too. I'm unable to fix it now. I tried removing the screen and putting it back on but it still shows the red screen.

The proximty camera flex.. If you are getting red screen just open iPhone up and disconnect the camera flex from motherboard then turn on again and phone should boot up fine

door

Had this problem the other night it's due to a damaged proximity sensor flex..

Disconnecting the cable from the motherboard and the phone boots up 100% reconnect it turn off and on the red screen will return.

New proximity flex fixes this

door

Wich proximity flex. do you mean?

door

It didn't work :(

Please help! The thing you suggested for the hard restart didn't work! It showed the apple logo and then these white striped vertical things whet on my screen and then went completely black. So here how it started. I was in the hot car waiting for my mom to come back from the store. It was 83 degrees out and I was playing games. Then my screen turned red and slowly faded to black. I tried turning it back on. Nothing. I balled my eyes out because I forgot almost all my passwords for my social media sites. Everything. Gone. Am I able to bring it back to the Apple Store and will they be able to transfer the data onto a knew phone? Any suggestions what to do? :(

It needs new proxy sensor(front camera flex)

If you restore the phone then will it restart everything and lose all your pictures and things and be wiped completely?

door

I tried a completely different screen and still not working

Try un plugging the camera and see if it turns on. I think it's something with the front camera. Happened to me recently and I unplugged the camera and phone functions correctly but does not have a front camera. Little better then giving your customer a nonfunctioning phone

That's the hardware or the software problem at all? Is that work if I recover the system?

Do not apply cover plate on flex. it might work, because it works for me.

I replaced the selfie camera flex, because I applied a little too much pressure and bent the tiny copper/gold contacts after I replaced the cracked LCD and Glass. Now the phone was heating up and battery was draining after I reassembled everything exactly the way it was, screws in same holes, everything. Also the front selfie cam wasn't working. I tried taking the cover off as you said and now this electrical short is gone and everything is working as it should. I assume the cover is there in case you drop phone so they don't come unplugged. I'm willing to seek an alternative solution to this cover to ensure phone works correctly but for now the phone is fully functional! Thanks for the suggestion Milan!

I recently ordered the "iPhone 5s LCD Screen and Digitizer Full Assembly" from iFixit to replace a shattered LCD on my phone.

The repair went well, thanks to their guides & videos, but as I booted up the phone for the first time, the phone crashed with the red screen.

The first thing I tried was a hard reset -- didn't work. Then, following advice in these forums, I disconnected the new/replacement front camera assembly and booted the phone, and the red screen went away. Problem solved: it was a faulty front camera assembly on the replacement part. (I didn't try and figure out if the problem was caused by the proximity sensor or the camera specifically, since they are essentially one part.)

In the end, I ended up spending considerably more time to move the OEM front camera assembly from the shattered screen to the replacement screen, discarding the defective front camera assembly which came on the replacement part. That worked, too, proving that the replacement part was indeed the problem after all.

So far, all is well after a few hours with the phone. I hope the red screen doesn't return.

This is being reported more commonly. Try removing the LCD sheild and testing the screen to see if it works in that condition. (Not as a fix but to see if this is the problem).

The first time this happened to me it resolved itself after about an hour. Now a month and some days later it started to happen again. I came across this page and did the hard reset (after turning the phone off and waiting a while to turn it back on, which did not help) I did the hard reset and it resolved the issue.

I just changed the screen of my iPhone 5s.

The screen color does not matter. I have a white iphone and I put a black screen. To unlock the red screen, you have to change the front camera and the touch id.

Now my iphone feature 100%

I fixed it by constantly turning it off and on then I let it die and turned it on by charging it.I just kept messing with it and it eventually worked.

I have the same problem on my sister's phone. It started when the old battery died. We put it in recovery mode, because we weren't sure if it's a software or hardware issue. After we figured out it was the battery we replaced it. After that we tried to restore the phone and it doesn't work. It starts the update and then when the phone's supposed to be updating the red screen shows and it restarts thus failing the update/restore and then the 4013 error pops up on itunes. We tried disconnecting and reconnecting every cable in the motherboard, even the battery but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5s. I looked it up and people said it could be a faulty logic board or long screw damage.

Most common cause of this is long screw damage . It is likely that the screen has been removed and the screws holding the LCD connectors in place have been put back in the wrong order. The screws are different lengths, and if not put back in the correct positions it will damage the tracks in the bottom of the screw holes.
