iPhone cant find network after fall.

Hi, my friend smashed his iPhone and wanted me to repair it for him as I have done it multiple times before. When I removed the back cover I found out that the antenna and battery cables are ripped off, so I have replaced both of them. The battery works fine, but the phone was keeping searching for network. I thought that maybe it was the after market antenna so I replaced it with one from an working iPhone (and put the aftermarket one in it and it worked fine, so no problem here) and it was still searching, therefore I started to think its a software fault. While connected to my wifi, I have checked if the date sets automatically, tried cycling the air plane mode, then restored the network settings, then the phone, then updated to iOS 7.1 and it still keeps on searching. The phone shows IMEI and ICCID. Are there any other option other than replacing the motherboard?

UPDATE:

So I tried swapping logic board from another iPhone and it worked, so the problem is on the logic board, although I do not know if it is a software or hardware fault. But I tried disconnecting antenna on a working iPhone and it had the same issue as the damaged one. Therefore I am guessing that the problem could be the antenna connector on the logic board as the mating half of the antenna was torn away, so maybe the connector was damaged as well during the fall. But I really

This is pry damage from battery removal.

Inspect the board and you will find the knocked off component.

Find someone to replace and you'll be fine.

If you can't find local board-level help, feel free to contact me via my profile

Can you tell me what exactly has been knocked off? I don't see it.

look closer to the dock connector along the side of the board that is next to the battery. post pics of that area and we can help you.

I am not sure I understand your request, do you want a picture of the board or the dock connector? By the way I tried a logic board from another iPhone and everything worked fine.

door

The board nearer the dock connector socket area--adjacent to the baseband area

When you say it's searching for network, I'm assuming you mean searching for the mobile data? (The sim card)

If that's the case, it's a very common problem when doing reperations on Iphones. When you take the battery out of the phone it loses all sense of time. Simply connect the phone to Itunes or Wifi and give it a few minutes before restarting the phone.

Thanks for the response.

No, it can find any carriers so it says either searching... or no serivce. I had it connected to itunes whole day and nothing happened so I connected it to wifi and waited over night and still nothing. I had similar problem with my phone before so I used the standard procedures, wich did not help and after 4 hours it just connected and it was fine ever since.

Hi there make sure the blue coil is still intact it's just to the left of were the antenna plugs in and just under the dock flex.. Make sure it's still there if it's not that's the reason for no service

Did you check for the blue coil like I sayed?

door

Yes I did, it seems to be okay, but I do not have a magnifying glass with me right now, so I will check it later today if its not loose or anything.

door

You can check the coil on the picture, but it seems ok to me.

May be that the sim card is damaged. Have your friend go by his carrier and ask for a new sim card.

Thank you for responding, but the SIM card is ok, I tried his and mine, both of which are working fine on our iPhones.

door

It could be the sim card reader.

door

Thats what I am worried about. Still not sure though because when the slot is empty it says no SIM and when I install a SIM it statrs searching, so it recognizes when there is something in it, but I dont know for what functions exactly is the reader responsible for, therefore I am not sure whether the problem is in the reader or somewhere else.
