Home Button - No click - Replace button or flex or both?

Hi!

My iPhone 3G home button works, but there is no click - I have read that this is a pretty common issue. I want it to have a proper click once I press it.

So the question is - which part makes the actual click - the black button or the flex cable beneath it? Or both? I am asking this because I want to know which part to replace.

Thanks!

Hi there I would suggest you buy a screen with built in frame and home button and proximity sensor and all you have to do is swap the lcd over..

Because changing the home button you need to remove the glass and you risk smashing it and damaging the bezal and to be honost when you glue it again it won't hold as good..

Great thing is the screen with home button and display brackets is only £6 and half the work is involved

Hi Reinis,

The actual click is made by the switch on the flex cable.

Most of the time when a button doesn't click but still works it means that there is some dust accumulated between the actual switch and the button.

You could try opening the iPhone and cleaning it. If the problem still exists after you cleaned it, replacing the home button flex cable will probably fix the problem.

Good luck!
