home button doesnt work after multiple fixes

My power button went bad a while ago. when I replaced it, it worked. but then my home button stopped working. I noticed that the two gold connectors were bent from me opening it so I replaced the lightning flex cable. Still no home button. so I finally replaced the home button flex cable and it still doesn't work. What can I do??? ive replaced everything I can to get it to work and it still doesn't work!! HELP!!!

If you open up and leave screen and all connected and press power to make phone sleep don't turn off.. Now with a screw driver touch the two metal prongs with the metal shaft at the same time this should light up your screen as if you were pressing the home button and will tell you that the part is working.. Do this first and report back

If you touching the two conectors with metal and it's not accivating the screen the try a new charging port it makes contact with the home button..

Do what con says. Also, does it feel normal? What happens when you press the home button? if it does not spring back up, you might be missing a tiny, but important metallic square that goes on the back of the home button

My home button doesn't work so i replaced the ribbon cable, still no joy. However, if I press on either side of the home button while pressing the home button it works!

Maybe see if that makes the home button work?

If so, how would you fix that?

I tried what Con suggested and didn't have any luck. I replaced my battery last night andd since then my home button wont work. I tried bridging those two connectors and it doesn't do anything either. Any idea what else it could be?

Yes, when replacing your battery, you must have pried between the battery and the logic board, just next to the sim slot. This is a common mistake that causes damage to components in that area that control the function of the home button and also of the power button.

If you actually made a good connection between the two leads, it's more likely that you have an open filter ( acts like a fuse) in the logic board.
