MacBook Pro Retina Display Activation?

Is there an activation code for Macbook Pro Retina Display, because I have 2 MBPr and one display were dead (black), in order to be sure that only the display is defect I use the display from the othe laptop to test, but when I put the display back to the second laptop it doesn't work. And I'm wondering if there are activation codes for the MBPr to work with the installed display.

Ouch!

So while there is certainly the possibility that I am wrong (although in this case, I doubt it), it sounds like... you either:

1. shorted the logic board fuse for the backlight of the one you returned it to (where you originally took the screen from)

2. damaged the pins on the cable from the display

3. damaged the port on the logic board for the cable from the display

4. didn't seat the cable properly and need to re-seat it.

As far as the activation, there is none. I know this for a fact. HOWEVER, Apple DOES keep a record of the serial number from the display and which System Serial it's supposed to be tied to. However, they only record it from the macs that come into their stores for work or repair. They do not record the data from the macs off the assembly lines. Just FYI

I have never heard of there being activation codes for Apple hardware installations. I recommend double checking the connections.
