Burnt inductor and PCB on GTX560 Ti KFA2 Pci Express Graphics Card

Block Image

Hi

Just wondered if someone could help with this problem.

I have a GTX560 Ti KFA2 Pci Express Graphics Card one of the 0.3uH chips which I believe to be a power inductor has burnt out.

It has also left a nasty burn mark on the pcb itself which looks repairable, I just wanted some info on the burnt out part and what is a suitable replacement.

Any help would be great thanks

Update

Hi thanks for the reply and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!!!!

Ok back to the post I've taken some shots of the graphics card which shows all surrounding components any advice on what to replace defective part with would be most helpful.

Just wanted to know if a repair is worth it or maybe a throw away jobby (I hate throwing things away) many thanks again.

any chance you could post another images straight down onto the components? That way we can see how image one and two relate.

You are absolutely right. Those are 0.3uH Ferrite inductors. Now we just have to figure out what the rest of the values are.

You may be able to take it to radioshack and someone point you in the right direction other than that unless you KNOW its bad why not try reflowing it. I have fixed several boards and cards just reflowing all the solder and making sure nothing is loose or wobbly. If its messed up stick a wire in their with it to take up the extra space or bridge it to where it runs if you need too. I looked for a part like that and didn't easily find one you could also try calling some electronics parts supplies sites online and talking to them about it. Definitely dont throw that away if nothing else sell it as is on ebay someone will probbaly pay 5 or 10 bucks for it.

Hi thanks for your reply unfortunately here in the UK we don't have shops like Radio Shack, at least ones that are genuinely helpful. I can't seem to find anything on the web that points to the numbers on the inductor. Will have to persevere with it, haven't actually stuck it in a machine to test because of the damage thanks again Kris.

Hi, just replace the 0.3uh inductor, but before you test it, beware the 6 pins connector are not in short circuit, o test with other power supply or other mainboard. after that tell me what happens.
