Question about adhesives for my iPod

I used the 3M 300LSE strips that came with my digitizer, but they were not strong enough. It does hold my ipod together, but it raised out of the case (sides are not flush).

What can I get that is stronger? Is it safe to use a spray-on adhesive such as this?

Would it be safe to use a liquid-based adhesive (not referring to like super glue)?

Again, I've already tried the 3M strips and they did NOT work well enough.

Well first there are few things we should make sure you are doing when replacing the glass.

The old adhesive should be cleaned off. Which usually means using an adhesive remover. The problem is that the adhesive remover residue (which is almost always left behind) will affect the adhesion of the new stuff. So it needs to be cleaned too.

I have found that IPA works very well for that. Then with new application 3M sticks really well.

Also, if it is cold where you are doing these repairs you will want to heat the assembled thing to about 100-120F and press it together while it cools. You shouldn't have any problems with adhesion after that.

I did clean off the old adhesive.

Are there any other adhesive solutions?

What was your procedure for cleaning up the old stuff?

Used vinegar. All I know is that it removed most of the adhesive, and the surfaces were not sticky.

I'm going to seem really stupid, but it's most likely related to me losing nearly ALL the screws. Now I have to find those screws somewhere else...

Start with getting your screws together. They may be something pressing up from underneath.

I had one do the same thing because the chassis was bent. What I did was stick the iPod in a plastic protective case with a small lip that goes around the screen. This keeps everything in place and protected.

My goal is to re-sell this iPod. It's gotta look as close as possible to unopened (of course I'm advertising it as repaired).

By chassis, you mean the very iPod shell? I didn't have to do much to remove the digitizer/screen as half of it was gone.

On mine the outer shell was bent from a drop. I see that you had lost the screws to the metal plate. That is ilkely why you are having issues as that metal plate needs to fastened down and there is little wiggle room in the 4th gen ipod. Everything needs to be in just the right place.

Ok. Would these be an acceptable replacement? http://www.menards.com/main/home-decor/c... It'd be nice to quickly get something from a store than wait for shipping.
