Home Button Not responding following screen replacement

Anyone any ideas here? I fear there may be a connection problem with the connector labelled J3 or there may be something obvious I'm missing.

HELP

Update

Thanks, i did just that and all is now well with the home button. Might renew the circuit after a while but it's fine for the moment

Is "only" the spring gone ?

depending on your soldering skills it should be possible to fix it.

the base of the spring should be metal, if you find a thin spring from a lighter or a ballpoint pen or something like that, cut it to the needed leght and solder it to the point where the original spring was.

I just experienced the same problem lately. Home button stopped working, so I changed the front panel assembly completely. Still not working after replacing complete front panel (including home button). The part which is receiving the signal from the home button is situated on the top of the 3gs bottom part (speaker, charging port, mic). When I saw that, I decided to try changing this part. After replacing with another bottom part, it worked successfully.

Hope this will help !

Hey nick which one is the J3 connector... I also just replaced the front panel I had a cracked screen and replaced it using new double stick tape and all... After replacing and re assembly home button does not respond at all... What do you guys think I may have left unconnected? Or what piece dis I bent or what should I do to get the home button again? Do I have to remove the front panel glass from the digitizer again? Thanks!

why not replace the home button flex, it is much simpler and less risky
