How can I replace the backlight on my laptop?
Hi there!
I recently acquired a 4 year old MacBook Pro 15" (A1150) which is my first mac since the Color Classic, if anyone remembers those. I am in love with this machine but it does seem no matter how much benefit I give the doubt, that the screen is much dimmer than it should be. Of course today we all use LED backlights which are far brighter, but even so I am sure old style backlights were brighter than the one on my MacBook. The computer is such a good one, i'd be very keen to get a new backlight for the display. I understand it is difficult to replace, requires soldering etc, but it is something I would be prepared to do if
would bring the brightness up a notch or five. Is it just me? Or have MacBook Pro 15"s always had relatively dim displays?
Particularly it is dimmer on the right hand side - not a black and white difference, but sometimes annoying enough that you shift your seating position close to the right to get a full on view of that side of the screen (making it appear brighter).
Where could I get the blacklight tubes? (I am in Helsinki, Finland) and what would the approximate cost be?
Would the inverter need replacing too? The blacklight is steady as a rock, no flicker and always comes on fine, so I think the inverter is probably fine, right?
Many thanks.
