need my computer looked at

I spilled coffee in my MacBook. Apple won't touch it. Looking for someone to repair it, even though it's working now. Help.

There are a bunch of places that will be happy to fix your computer. Get a computer and go online to www.dttservice.com. I have hade many clients use them and have had good results.

1-800-622-7977 they are on west coast.

iFixit is a site for users to repair items themselves, if you can describe the damage in detail, we can help you solve your problem.

I only know what Apple told me and that was that there were some burn spots inside and "lots of coffee"; don't know if that was escapease" for "we're not going to touch this" or what, but I got no other information and I don't have a clue as to how to take the computer apart or if I should even try. Apple said there's some company they work with that will, for a flat rate of $400-$500, fix whatever needs fixing to get it back to good working order. I'm trying to avoid that much expense. Suggestions?

Well iFixit isn't the place to find a vendor for hire, you'll have to look elsewhere, this site is about self-repair.

true rab, but a lot of us do this for a living

door

Well obviously, but this isn't a forum for advertisements, this is a forum for self-repair, not matching repair(wo)men with clients. It's specifically stated in the site guidelines too that this is not a place to advertise your business(es).

You'll need to replace this part.

thanks rab. when i read that this is Difficult to replace and i've never done this before, do you think i'm capable? do i need a grounding thingy so i don't blitz any chips?

door

Highly doubt it, all the tools you'll need are listed right there. Very few people I know use grounding straps, and usually that's just out of habit.

door

Just ground yourself out by touching the center screw of an electrical outlet before starting. You can do permanent damage to your RAM and/or logic board else wise. Some habits are well grounded.

Nice pun

To ad on to that, just don't do it on a carpet of any sort.

I cannot seem to locate the instructions on how to disassemble and reassemble the Mac to replace the part you're saying I should change out. How do I find that? Thanks.

follow this:

http://www.ifixit.com/Info/ID-your-Mac

when you find out the exact model number, (which BTW should also be written at the bottom of the computer, just turn it upside down) then search for the guide. i would think, your laptop is A1181, so i would just type in A1181 and see what results it would show you. ussualy, if you follow guide for replacing motherboard, it also points you, where magboard is...
