One bad RAM slot, Can I upgrade to a single 8GB Module?

I'm currently using 2 RAM modules of 4GB, however one of the RAM-slots is broken so the active memory is only 4GB.

I know the maximum amount of RAM the macbook pro can handle is 8GB. But would it be possible to install this in the form of 1x8GB instead of 2x4GB.

Thank you for your time.

That won't work. Each slot can accommodate a maximum of 4 GB RAM. It is a good work around to having the board or RAM connector replaced... just that you'll be limited to how much RAM you access.

Thanks for the help, seems like I'll have to make do with 4GB of RAM then.
