Why isn't my computer turning on?

I've owned my Power Mac G4 for years and years, but about a week ago it didn't work anymore. I have tried resetting the PRAM, tinkering with memory positions, but it kept being the persistent sleeper it is. I resorted to calling Apple but, you guessed it, they said it was out of warranty and I had to pay $55 CAN if I wanted them to give me the slightest of help. If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

P.S: I guessed it could be the power supply or the fuse but I didn't want to buy new stuff while I have no idea how to put it together. I would thank whoever can give me some directions.

I can't turn it on. The fans, the lights everything is irresponsive. Like I don't even press the button.

I forgot to mention I replaced it. It worked a month ago when the same happened but it refused now.

The first thing I would do is replace the 3.6 volt Lithium PRAM battery, if it's bad the computer will be unresponsive.

Our G4 was similarly not budging, EXCEPT there was just the hint of a tick sound, every second or two.. Can you hear any sound whatsoever?

With ours, we did the scary-anti-lawyer step of opening the box, with strongwilled intention to not touch anything, just look, and sure enough when we plugged in the G4 and watched, you could see a tiny flash every second or so that corresponded with the ticking. Unplug electric cord because answer is clear. It's not the power supply as many thought, nor the pram, etc.

The good news is that seeing is useful. The not-so-wonderful news was that the flashing was an obvious sign of a fried logic board, which we then found a replacement online and see the replacement steps here at ifixit.

best wishes... ttyl

On the mother board, there is a tiny switch. It's position and label has varied from model to model. Press it ONCE. This will reset the power circuit and it should start up.
