power button does not work after replacement

I have replaced my power button because it did not work and now it depresses and clicks but still does not activate. I have gone back through the steps again and it still does not work. I am beginning to wonder if i damaged the power and sensor cable when it put it in?

Hello!

Did you replace the lock button flex cable? Or did you just replace the metal button that you press?

I replaced the flex cable under the power button. The power button now depresses properly but does not carry out the actual turning on or of the phone.

I think i damaged the new one when i installed it in the phone. I will try again when my replacement arrives.

Does the phone still function and turn on? It could be that the phone is non-functional anyway. And okay get back to us with the results :)

The phone works fine! All apart from the power switch:-( I will try to repair it again and if it doesn't work then so be it:-)

Thanks for your help:-)

ok nathan, just a suggestion...

the power cable as you probably know is within the same flex cable as the proximity sensor... make a call and see if it turns off automatically when your face comes within distance of it... if it does not then the cable could be disconnected or you bought a defective cable....

if the proximity sensor works and responds as it should when you make calls, then it could be a problem with the contacts on the power button cable, software glitch or possibly a logic board problem(less likely)...

inspect the area where the contact is carefully and make sure its up to par... but regardless if something if wrong at the contact area, theres not not much you could do about it and would require a replacement anyway...

just my suggestions...hope it helps =)
