LCD Assemblies for $30 on eBay - Good or Bad?

I need an LCD Assembly for my iPhone 4.

They cost $100 here, but $30 on eBay, and not necessarily from China.

What's the difference?!

If not from China, where do you think they come from? Remember the old adage, you get what you pay for.

But the iPhone itself is manufactured in China, is it not?

That's what it says on the back of mine..

So, why are some Chinese parts 90$ and others 30$?

Yes it is manufactured in China, but Apple doe s require quality assurance. Apple pays the manufacturers/assemblers based on that, so if it fails, no many from Apple:-)

Guy Mor, one of the difference in prices is, that by purchasing directly from China, you eliminate the middleman. Another difference is quality assurance. You will find that some of the places have skipped this step totally. You may receive am assembly that is faulty right away. those are the factories that just crank the assembly out and selling them at mass. Service will become an issue, a lot of times you absolutely do not have it.. If it's broke, its broke, no returns. Also some of those companies bank on you not sending it back to China, if it is not working. This is not to say that every inexpensive assembly is bad, but you are taking chances. I do purchase a lot of parts directly out of China, and have not had really bad experiences. I would suggest you buy what you can afford, or what you would like to spend, and to keep in mind that we get what we pay for.

I looked on eBay, and there are no ~50-60$ assemblies. It's either 30$ or over 120$..

I agree, the way I would proceed is by checking on Aliexpress.com or TVC-Mall.com Both places use Paypal for payment as well. You'll be surprised to see many of the same suppliers from ebay.com and Amazon.com on there. You should get a decent price on there as well. The shipping may take longer. Again, I have been dealing with those places for a long time and have not had a bad experience. Not every supplier from China has bad merchandise, but the bad ones seem to accumulated at places like ebay.com etc.

Peter, I do not recommend any site. I deal with Aliexpress and TVC-Mall as well as others, and I do not endorse anyone in particular. What I did say was that I have not had any bad issues with any of those. No, I am just a participant of this forum like everybody else :-) Thank you for your admiration;-)

I buy all my iphone screens from ebay (uk) I only use sellers with good feedback, 99.5%+. I pay about £10-£15 for iphone 4 screens and have not had any problems with screen quality.

My personal thought process is this....YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING ON EBAY! haha! It could be a used LCD that doesnt' work or a crappy new one that works for a little while. Just my $.02
