Wii Freezes Upon Spinning Up Disks

My Nintendo Wii worked correctly until I left it in the car in the cold for a few days, and moved it between a few houses.

It now freezes at the Channel menu about 10 seconds in, when it begins to try to spin up a disk. It freezes before it shows a game if one is inside; it only shows the disk loading animation. The Wii then freezes completely, and must be restarted by holding down the power button. Before it freezes I am able to sync remotes, remove and put games in, and move the pointer on the screen.

I am assuming it's an issue with the disk drive, but I was hoping someone on here could give a second opinion. If there is any more information anyone may need, I'll try my best to give it.

Thank you.

dotmaners, you said "in the car in the cold". How cold are we talking about?

A little before Winter set in in Ohio - it was a while ago. I'm going to have to guess ~30 F.

Actually it's not an issue with the drive. Although it's contributing to the problem.

Leaving your Wii in the sun will cause the motherboard inside to swell and bend from the heating up and cooling down process. You have created bad solder joint inside the Wii. When the Wii powers on, it takes minimal power consumption. Thus working fine at the dashboard. When you put in a disc you cause the Wii to draw more voltage / current and therefore process more electricity throughout the machine. the cold / bad solder joints are failing in the process of transferring electricity to components causing the freeze.

The Wii was not heated up at any point that I can think of - could the cold (~30 F) alone cause this?
