Why wont imovie let me export? Heap zone error.

So I edited a 2 minute long video. I selected export movie as usual. I selected HD and in the middle of the exoporting imovie said that there was not enough space in the heap zone. I thought ok so let me delte some stuff (there was alot). I tried it again and it happend a again. I thought I shoud try uploading in a loower quality. Nope nothing happend. I looked on line for answers and noting helped. I dont know if its imovie or the computer.

I guess what I am trying to ask is:

How do I see how much space is in my heap zone?

How do I make space in it?

How do I fix this without going to a store, shop, ect.?

Try renaming your export movie, you can't have special characters in the project names. e.g a "hyphen" or any other "wild card" character in it. IF that doesn't fix it you may have corrupted clips, or file type problems MPEG4 and .MOV are two of the better video file types for iMovie. reimporting them might work, ensuring that they are (or are converted to be) Apple friendly. Also unplug any peripheral (like a printer or camera) and restart your machine before exporting.

Other possible Answer from iMovie: Share > Export movie using QuickTime > Options > Settings > Compression Type: MPEG-4 Video> Key Frames: Auto > Data Rate: Auto > Compressor Quality: High

For some reason H.264 compressor doesn't "like" Best Quality (multi pass) encoding.

LAST RESORT: Reinstall OS, run all updates.

Did not work for me...

It worked perfectly for a video 15 minutes long (1.3 GB)

This is the solution in my case: from iMovie: Share > Export movie using QuickTime > Options > Settings > Compression Type: MPEG-4 Video> Key Frames: Auto > Data Rate: Auto > Compressor Quality: High

door

Perfect! All the settings under Options did the trick! Thanks.

Good question, as this is no longer an option with the latest iMovie software update.

on my iMovie, it does not show the "share" icon. how do I export my movie onto my desktop on my mac?

door

The share icon isn't on the software itself. On the very top of your desktop there should be a tool bar with thee apple icon and imovie next to it with the other tools. "Share" should be up there and all you need to do from there is click "share" and it'll give you the options for exporting and sharing.
