Gray screen and no connection to iTunes

Hi out there, I hope one of you can help me out with a problem.

I have an iPhone 3GS that was dropped and stopped working. The digitizer and LCD was busted so I changed them both, but when i tried to reboot the phone I got a white screen that very slowly faded to gray.

I naturally tried to do a hard reset and also tried to do the reset while holding the volume up button (why that would help I don't know, but hey it never hurts to try :D)

I then tried to change the logicboard to a working phone and got the same result, so figured that it was a problem with the logicboard. I tried to connect it to iTunes and the computer nor iTunes reacted when it was plugged in, but the screen tuened on with the same gray color.

After letting the phone lie for a couple of months I connected it to my computer again to find that iTunes and the computer now recognised the phone (and gave me a white screen, not gray) and told me that it was in restore mode, so I of course tried to restore it, but got an error 3194 after downloading the newest iOS version. I kind of figured out, that when the battery was fully discharged, iTunes suddently recognises it.

Is there any hope for my iPhone? Any tips or tricks? I have considdered trying to reflow the motherboard in the oven, but I don't want to destroy it if someone here knows what is wrong..?

Please help :)

Hi, I have a phone with the same condition here with me now. What I did was pull out the logic board and let it without power for 1 hr and assembled all back. I then put it on charge for 6 hours and now Itunes recognizes it but no display on screen. The digitizer works though as I can hear it unlock as I swipe across the screen. So for me I will change the screen and see what happens. Follow what I did and write back on what u did.

I will try to pull out the logicboard and leave it out for some hours, but the screen does not react and the phone does not boot at all.

Thanks for the comment though!

By no display what I meant was just a grey screen. I thought the phone was dead until I heard the charging sound after around 20 mins I plugged it into the mains charger.

@ John Savio - I now tried to leave the logicboard out overnight and to let i charge for close to a full day, to no avail. :( It did however change the screen color from light gray to the normal white screen, but iTunes still did not recognise it and when i tried to do a hard reset, the old gray screen came back..
