No AirPort card installed after CMOS reset?

After a black screen the Apple service Centre resetted my CMOS. Screen back, but Airport card no longer installed: right upper corner of my screen Airport icon greyed out saying: "No Airport card installed". Went through a lot of tests with the helpdesk. Re configure network, PRAM reset, holding down the on/off button after unplugging the machine. No result. Now they advise me to return the machine again to the service centre. I got it on the 11th of Januar took it back the 22nd of Feb, lost it for two weeks and after I picked it up the Aiport card is lost. Anyone?

since the iMac is still undere warranty i would not void the warranty - bring it back to apple or call them and get it fixed. it's a common problem with the 27" model (just google iMac i7 no airport card )

seomeone wrote that the black cable to the airport is not connected well - maybe it's correct - but waht if it's not that problem and you void the warranty? (since the iMac series is problematic - i would never open it myself (warranty/applecare is a must with this machine)

Hi,

I have the same problem with my 27" i7 model. "NO AIRPORT CARD INSTALLED". An offical apple service partner exchanged it. After two weeks, the same issue again. No airport installed...

This drives me crazy... Could you fix the problem mediathology? Please answer me to jonas@realboarder.ch.

Like jonas i have the same problem. It works fine for 6-8 Weeks after buying, than the Airport error came up. The Apple store change the Airport card and it worked for hmm, 6 Weeks. Than the same problem again, first no connection sometimes, than completly lost. I made a downgrade to 10.6, delete my Bootcamp but no effect.

Can't tell ya how much i hate the Apple Genius Bar with his appointment system for bring-in and pick-up. This saturday will be my great day...

after two or three months working... I got the same error again. After some minutes connected to my wifi, the connections drops and the airport isn't able to connect again. Any solutions yet?

Hello Jonas,

I've received my iMac back for now 2 or 3 Weeks. As i told earlier, apple replaced the Airport card. This time they have changed the cable to the airport card, but it couldn't solve the problem they told me. They decide to change the logic board too. For now i am running with a new airport card, cable and logicboard plus the latest OS on my mac and have no problems, let's see for how long. In germany they have 3 repair tries, if those couldn't solve the problem you can have a new one or you can cancel the contract. I can't wait for it.

The guy from the genius bar told me, thats a software problem. Maybe true or not, i don't know. Sorry for my bad english, wish you luck.

This problem i fix it with just replace the cable from motherboard to aiport card and also change airport with antenna for those who are using macbook or macbook pro. This sound software problem but honestly is not due to fabrication. When you make fast electronics by reducing size then can damage them easily by just close the screen of the laptop. if you try old macbook pro with the same operating system on a clean drive you will mention that is no problem with the airport when you close the screen. regards jimmy maccock

This is because they need more money. Apple could replaced airport card with covered one like in the old macbook pro so will be hard to channeling the system just by close the screen. some people can restart the pc, or reset cimos, or change hard drive,or change settings or change operating system but strictly speaking the problem will come back because this is not permanent solution if you have often freeze of airport. i would like to say that there is no perfect electronic system unless they like technology and not money witch is impossible.

In such a situation if is still under warranty please bring it back and say to them to change you the device because the faulty devices should replaced by not faulty because of not good fabrication. sometimes happening to be faulty motherboards, especially airport cards from the factory etc. not think is new should be software problem because this is cheapy answer.
