Internal Speakers Output went missing after SSD upgrade.

I've actually already solved this problem but though it might be handy for others to know. After upgrading my 2010 27" iMac with a Samsung 830 series SSD the Internal Speakers Output went missing from the Sound Control Panel. The volume slider was greyed out and pressing the volume up/down keys on the keyboard showed the standard icons with slashes through them. After some digging around in the Apple discussion forums I tried several solutions but the one that finally worked for me was to simply insert and remove a pair of headphones in and out of the headphone jack 5 to 6 times. Apparently the iMac was 'stuck' in digital only mode and plugging the headphones in several times resets everything. It was a big sigh of relief as I was certain I had damaged something inside during the upgrade. As a side note, I'm loving my 'New' iMac with an SSD boot drive. SUPER FAST.
