Error message 1604 after iPhone 4 water damage

Hi guys

My iphone 4 got water damaged, so I have opened and cleaned it with iso. It now shows the apple device and then goes straight to "connect to itunes'' screen. I have connected to itunes and attempted to restore about four times and each time am given the 1604 error msg.

Could this be a fried logic board? Do they (iphones) still turn on even if lb is fried?

Any assistance would be greatly apprecieted.

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, it is still not fixed after trying all your suggestions (and many more!).

I have contacted apple and they say that it should be fixable, but as yet i have not been in contact with them again.

Just a note for others that might have the same problem:

It does help to temporarily disable any firewalls or software protection you may have running whilst trying to restore.

Belinda, couple of things you can ty. first use a different USB port, or even a different computer and give it a try. Should that not work, try the Apple solution" Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.

Restore and wait for the error.

When prompted, click OK.

Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.

The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.

Try to restore again." from here.

Make sure that you dock connector is clean, no corroded or broken, bend pins. Also, you do want to change your battery. Hope this helps, good luck.
