Does the cartridge work in a different DMG? It may be dirty, or the cartridge reader on the gameboy might be dirty. If I were you I would give the board and contacts a good cleaning with isopropyl alcohol.
-As for the sound, first I would check the headphone jack. If that’s corroded that may clause your issue as the signal for the audio is bright through that before being sent over to the speaker. If it’s corroded then it may not be able to get past the headphone jack. I would also clean that and any other corrosion on the board with isopropyl alcohol.

If that doesn’t work for the sound, then I would replace the capacitors and the speaker. I get my replacement parts from a store called Handheld Legend, but I’m sure there’s many places to get them. I would replace the capacitors anyway even if that’s not causing the issues with the sound as it’s a good quality of life upgrade and will make your gameboy last longer, and it’s fairly easy if you know how to solder.
Hope that helps. If it doesn’t, then please send a picture of the board and I’ll see if I can see anything to cause the issue.
Have a great day!
