Problem with the 9.6 volt B&D Dustbuster battery?

Hello from Newmarket, On.

Is there any way to re-charge the batteries? The battery charge lasts about 20 seconds. A new B&D Dustbuster costs $95. and the batteries alone from Amazons costs $55.

Is it time to say good-bye to the Dustbuster.
