Best I can find out is the battery model numbers 616 0550, 616 0551, 616 0552 & 616 0553 are all compatible with an iPod Touch 4th Gen A1367.
Looking at your image zoomed in I can't see any polarity markings on the battery connector for the battery that is installed now, is that the problem you're referring to?

+If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) you can check the polarity of the battery if it has any charge in it at all.

+Set the meter to Volts DC 20V and connect the meter's red lead to the +ve leg of the battery and the black lead to the -ve leg and you will read the voltage. If the polarities are reversed you will still read the voltage but there will be a -ve symbol in front of the reading e.g. -3.5V in lieu of 3.5V
