Replacement battery swollen in less than 13 months

I have a late-2013 15" MacBook Pro. I have replaced the battery in it three times. 3/15/2019, 3/18/2021, and 2/5/2022. The most recent battery has swollen to the point there the computer says there is no battery installed.
Could this be due to some hardware issue, that is going to cause any future batter installed to swell? Should I simply take the current battery out and use it with a power adapter only?
I'm trying to limp along until the rumored 15" MacBook Air arrives.
