My Maytag front-loader door would not lock after replacing the bellows, which seemed to have too much resistance to compression. The door would close, but then spring open when an attempt was made to start a wash. The lock is apparently tested by locking and then unlocking, and then locking again when you start a wash on Maytag (and possible other) front-loaders. I found that if the door is '''held''' closed during this procedure, and then released once the second locking takes place, everything works perfectly from then on! I assume the bellows will “wear in” with continued use.
