It looks like your laptop [http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire3050/Aspire3050sp2.shtml|(product page)] might have these processors:
* Mobile AMD Sempron™ 3200+/3500+ (1.6/1.8 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)
* Mobile AMD Sempron™ 3400+/3600+ (1.8 GHz/2.0 GHz, 256 KB L2 cache)
According to Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Sempron_microprocessors#.22Keene.22_.28Socket_S1.2C_F2.2C_90_nm.2C_Low_power.29|AMD Mobile Processors] your processor has AMD64 technology, which is 64 bit.
So if you have 64 bit Windows 7 your processor DOES support the 64 bit OS, but like Ralph said you may have driver issues.
-Upon further investigation if you check out the [http://support.acer.com/us/en/drivers_download.aspx|downloads] page for your model they have place a nice red 'X' in respect to Windows 7 support. You could try downloading the latest drivers anyway though.
