Is your laptop a Dell Vostro 1440 by any chance?
-If so, then an 8 beep code is a display failure or LVDS cable (display cable) failure.
+If so, then an 8 beep code is a display panel failure or a LVDS cable (display cable) failure.
It may be that the 8 beep code means the same if your laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1440 as they are comparable laptops.

Scroll to p.53 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display assembly. This will allow you to inspect the LVDS cable and its’ connection to the motherboard and screen as well as removing the display if it is the problem.
