Sounds like the logic board might damaged, but it's hard to suggest anything without any info on iphone's history. Not to let anything untried you could try replace the lightning connector..data/power flow through it on the way to itunes and batterypower ICs and since it's an inexpensive part it would be good to rule it out as a possible faulty component. An inspection of the relevant connector on the logic board would be needed too.
