The memory upgrade can be done, but Asus has designed it where you need to take the entire laptop apart just to access the memory module. In addition, you can only install one module and there is no soldered RAM to supplement the final amount.
That being said, the guide to remove the memory can be found [guide|87353|here].
The other thing that may or may not work with yours is if you wanted to go up to 8GB of RAM from the official limit of 4GB, it may work. According to the [link|https://ark.intel.com/products/63915/Intel-Pentium-Processor-B970-2M-Cache-2_30-GHz|Intel ARK] page, this processor can take 16GB of RAM. ***At the time I wrote this answer, the problem is DDR3/L (now all DDR3L) was only available in 4/8GB modules and single 16B sticks did not exist. These modules exist now, but I do not know if they will work. It very well could, but they're not cheap and if it doesn't work you have a ~$169 piece of memory which was opened, cannot be sold as new and you either need to return it if they don't refuse it or sell it at a loss. I don't think it's worth it unless you have a machine which can use it, but it very well may work.***

-On this model it only has one RAM socket. This usually means part of the RAM is soldered and in order to figure out how much is soldered to the motherboard, you will need to look at the total installed and take that module out to figure it out. More then likely yours has a 1GB SODIMM combined with 1GB of soldered RAM. The guide to remove the memory can be found [guide|87353|here].

Since part of your RAM is likely soldered, you will be limited to 9GB with a 8GB module or 5GB with a 4GB module. You're better off bringing it up to 9GB since you won't get very far without doing this.
