I had this same issue last year. I was unable to play Blu-rays and DVDs. The Blu-ray drive is defective, and it needs to be replaced[https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+3+Blu-ray+Disc+Drive+Replacement/3484|replaced|new_window=true]. If the console is under warranty, send it back to Sony and they will repair the console. Otherwise, they will charge you $150 service charge. It's usually a two-week waiting period between the time you call and the time the console gets returned.
