I learned this earlier this summer:
When replacing an optical drive on a PS4 you have to take the daughterboard off of the old one and install it on the new one. The motherboard and daughterboard are matched together and there is no way (that I know of) to put a different optical drive in unless you have that specific daughterboard.
I also learned, at the same time, that there are two different kinds of daughterboards and you have to have the correct one for the matching optical drive.
