Tried what you wrote Markus but got the following in the command box.

I've had to format it again in camera and got the same problem.

Didn't think about the 999 being an estimate and that it may start counting down once it has less than 999. Will try it at 400 ISO and see what happens. Can't try 2g or 1g cards as I haven't got any more and friends don't use the comapact flash card.
