Hi guys. I bit off a more then I could chew attempting a housing swap on my iPhone 8. Everything works fine but the bottom microphone (calls and voice memo mic). I ordered a new charging port assembly with microphone attached assuming the old was broken but same thing happened again. No voice and a horrible static noise. Have I missed something???

iPhone 8: iPhone 8 screen dead after water damage

Hi guys,

I have a friend phone who put his iphone 8 under water (swimming pool) for five mins, he switched the phone off to dry it, then brought to me I noticed there was something wrong with his screen backlight (flickering then stopped but left a spot looked like water) after 3 days the phone was working fine but suddenly screen dead, the phone is working fine and put another screen and is working, I'm just curious If replacing the backlight of the screen would bring it to light up again?

What action should be taking to save screens have been in water? obviously disconntact the battery and drying the board is first things to do but want to know how dry the screen probably.

Thanks.

Connected to power, the phone vibrates and makes the chime sound. I even heard a notification come through. The home button also works.

The repair went smoothly apart from reassembling the cover that protects the display, battery and wifi cables. I got the screws mixed up (who knew orange and red were so similar?).

iPhone 8: Replaced lightning connector assembly now it wont charge or make noise

I completed the repair by replacing the lightning connector assembly. My phone turns on and allows me to send messages and seems to work fine. However, when the phone is plugged in. it will not charge. Upon further experimentation I noticed that the phone no longer vibrates or is able to make any noise. My theory is that the push connector that came on the new port assembly is not properly connected. I was having issues getting it to pop into the port, but I thought I had done it correctly. Anyone have any other ideas?

iPhone 8: Home Button Not working after replacing Battery

I just replaced the battery on my iphone 8, No problems with that repair. But the home button no longer works, Touch ID and haptics work, but home button is dead.

The Button/touch ID assembly at the bottom of the phone is in perfect shape, no cuts, breaks bent parts, I never even touched that part but I checked anyways after. I even messed with the tension on the screws to see if that was the problem

The only thing that looks like a possibly is a extremely small tear on the the digitizer cable right before it connects to the logic board, although the tear is less than a mm into the cable and it doesn’t even look like it reached the traces.

This seems strange as disconnecting the display was the second step in all of this and I didn’t mess with anything in that area of the phone

iPhone 8: Randomly switching off, slow response home, power and volume buttons

Im having a strange issue with my iPhone 8 for about 3 days randomly restarting.

I replaced the battery myself about 2 weeks ago with one unbranded one I bought off eBay. It was working absolutely fine until 3 days ago. The battery still charges fine and shows 100% in capacity.

if I press the power button there is a slow response. If I press the volume up or down for more than a sec it will go all the way up or all the way done as though I have kept it pressed for quite a few seconds. If i try to take a screenshot the screen goes off rather than the screenshot. The phone randomly restarts several times a day.

I haven’t tried anything like restoring the software as I’m not sure whether this is a software issue or hardware. Any ideas on where I should start to look? Thanks

iPhone 8: iPhone 8 has power and turns on but the screen is black

Dropped my iphone 8 today, the screen went blank.

I tried a hard reset (volume up volume down and then pressed the on/off button) the apple logo did not appear the the screen is unresponsive.

Tried plugging into my MacBook and connected to iTunes. The iTunes recognised it had a problem then said restore or update…I went for update… then waited and waited…nothing happened. I disconnected the phone and tried again to connect to iTunes but now the phone is not seen by iTunes at all.

I have tested if it will receive calls and it does, but I cannot answer the calls. Lastly the screen does not respond to any touch.

Anybody’s thought please…online help elsewhere is like a bad rabbit hole of articles which haven’t shone any light on the issue.
