iPhone X: Keranl panic no checkins from thermal sensor?

I’ve just completed a repair on a water-damaged iPhone X - everything seems fine except the phone is periodically rebooting (every 5 mins or so). Checking the device logs:

1 monitored services unavailable

com.apple.thermalmonitord unavailable (or words to that effect)

I assume from that there is a heat/thermal sensor in the phone that i’ve maybe not connected or another part that needs replaced. Any pointers to where that might be and what part I should try replacing?

Thanks!

iPhone 7 Plus: Phone dead after replacing screen > didn't disconnect battery?

I replaced my IPhone 7 plus screen and it worked.

However the touch button wasn’t seated properly so I reopened and re-seated.

Now, I remember when reading on the screen replacement manual that came with it “make sure to disconnect battery before working or guaranteed failure” to that effect.

But because I was in a rush this time i dont think i disconnected the battery prior to removing the screen.

Now the phone is completely lifeless.

Im wondering if the phone has a fuse, or what would be the most likely cause of a dead phone after replacing screen without disconnecting battery properly?

Im hugely distraught from this since it was clearly working before i re-opened to fix home button..

Any help appreciated

iPhone 6: Stumped By iPhone 6 Reboot Loop (Tried Everything!)

Guys, I'm running into a problem with my iPhone and it seems like I've tried everything to no avail. Would really appreciate more troubleshooting ideas.

Phone Information

Model: iPhone 6 (A1549) 64GB

Carrier: Verizon

Operating System: Latest iOS (no jailbreak)

Age: 2 years

Problem Symptoms

Press power button, Apple logo appears for a few seconds then screen goes black and the process restarts.

If left alone, process will repeat for about 10 minutes before the cycle breaks and the screen stays dimly backlit for hours.

After a few hours the dimly backlit screen will drain the battery and phone will shut off.

Pressing power button now will show the dead battery screen indicating to plug phone in to recharge.

Once plugged in, phone will recharge and boot back up to start the whole thing over again.

Problem Origin

I broke screen a few weeks ago and replaced the LCD/Digitizer with a new one from Amazon.

New screen seemed to be working perfectly fine for weeks.

I noticed battery was draining faster after new screen installation and proximity sensor stopped working.

Suspecting damage to the front camera assembly while switching it to new screen I ordered a new assembly from Amazon.

Phone was working fine until this point; This is what I did the day my phone died:

Turned phone off.

Disconnected battery connecter.

Disconnected screen.

Switched out front camera assembly.

Reversed process and powered up.

Phone has been stuck in this reboot cycle since then.

Troubleshooting

First thing I tried was simply going back with old camera assembly. That changed nothing; phone will power on, show log for a few seconds then restart.

Tried starting with the camera assembly completely disconnected and nothing changed.

Tried starting with nothing but LCD screen connected (no digitizer, no front assembly, no home button) and nothing changed.

Disconnected battery and tried starting while plugged in to charger. Phone got stuck in reboot cycle again as if nothing changed with battery out.

Let battery completely die until phone indicating that it needs to be plugged in to charge. Then I left it on the charger overnight. It recharged, powered back up and loop started again.

Replaced battery with a new battery and nothing changed. Tried a third battery, nothing changed.

Took phone apart down to logic board to see if I had accidentally disconnected something and brushed all connectors before I reassembled. No change.

Updated iTunes then plugged in my phone to see if I can get a firmware update. As the process starts phone reboots and gets stuck in loop again. iTunes says I should do a restore.

Tried manual firmware update by holding shift while clicking "Update" in iTunes and used the latest firmware file which I had already downloaded. As soon as update process starts phone reboots and gets stuck in loop again.

Started restore process in iTunes acknowledging that it will wipe all my data. As soon as restore process starts phone reboots and gets stuck in loop again.

I can put phone in DFU mode and then kick it out of DFU mode using Tenoshare's ReiBoot. I have not tried using ReiBoot pro which claims it can fix this issue but reviews looked shady.

Swallowed pride and took phone in to a repair shop (not Apple Store). They said they have no new ideas beyond what I tried.

I am completely out of ideas. If you have any suggestions that may save my phone I would love to hear them; will ship beer to anywhere in the US for an idea that works!

iPhone 6: "Phone is disabled try again in 1 hour" after screen change

This happens to me on a regular basis. I get a phone in, its working fine except for a broken screen. I change the screen (Disconnect battery of course) put it back together and BANG! Phone is disabled, try again in 1 hour. I did not enter any passcodes at all. I turn it on, after the apple logo I get “Try again in 1 hour” That in itself is only 1/2 the problem. An hour never comes! It will count down from 1 hour, usually one minute doesn’t equal 1 minute, and it usually stops somewhere is the 40’s. Not always, but it does stop somewhere. So here I am, for example, stuck at “Try again in 47 minuets” and 5 min later “Try again in 47 minuets” and then 10 min later “Try again in 47 minuets..”

This has happened at least twice to me. I actually just finished working on another phone as I type this, and although its now down to “Try again in 40 minuets” I am not expecting it to get all the way to zero and let me enter a passcode, because it hasn’t in the past.

WTF is going on? What am I doing wrong? Or is it me at all? Is there a way to prevent this from happening during a repair? I am getting a lot of upset customers from this.

P.S. I just checked it. Its been at least 3-4 minuets, if not more. Still “Try again in 40 minuets.”

iPhone 8: Anyone solved the new iOS iPhone Cellular Update Failed issue?

Has anyone found a solution to the current iOS update failure of Cellular update failed? Apple acknowledges the problem on their support page, but offers no resolution other than to contact apple support. It specifically states to not attempt a restore or a reset , which is the go to for a majority of issues, because this will result in being unable to activate the device.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208733...

Working for a repair center, we already have the annoyance of iPhone 7 acknowledged failures. This just adds to the headache of the newer models, with the latest update in software. Replacement of service antennas and reflows have been attempted, but with no repaired results. I am wondering if this update has triggered a board level failure. Perhaps another update will resolve the issue, but anything anyone has discovered to correct the problem, as is, at this time would be helpful.

iPhone 5s: Will iPhone turn on with no display/home cables attached?

Recently i've had to replace the lcd screen of the iPhone 5s.

Everything was working allright.. (the old screen was still working, just messed up colors) but now when i plug it in it displays black screen.

I have also tried plugging in the brand new screen and same issue.

Now i'm not sure whether it's screen issue. So i have few questions

1. How do i know if the iphone is turned on?

2. Will iPhone turn on with no display/digitzer/camera cables + home button attached?

What can be the issue? It was working fine before, but meanwhile (while i was waiting for the new screen) i had it powered on - with no screen and top attached. Which means it has lost it's entire power.

iPhone 5s: touch screen systematically unresponsive after any wake up?

Hello,

I replaced my iphone 5s screen and afterwards I have this systematic issue. Every time you hit the power/home button to wake it up, the touch screen is unresponsive. Simply pushing the power button twice (sleep then wake back up) results in a fully responsive and functioning touch screen. This occurs basically any time the phone has been asleep for longer than a minute - I haven't systematically figured out the exact time.

Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? I have turned the phone off and back on, same issue remains, and it has persisted for the last week.

Thank you for any assistance,

iPhone 6: iPhone 6 logic board - long screw damage

The other day i was going to replace my screen on my iPhone 6.

When i had to put the EMI shield back on i accidently used the 1mm longer screw for the buttom left hole (so i guess i made some minor long screw damage to the Logic board and broke some traces. also heard a little noise when screwing the last mm of the screw) :(

And now it doesnt show any picture on the LCD at all. Have anyone experienced that before?

Read something about that it sould be able to get fixed here

But my phone doesn't show any blue screen.

It also viberates every few seconds when it's in a charger (only after newest software update).

It is getting detected in iTunes.

I attached a picture here so you can get an idea of the damage (red circle marks the screw).

I would really like to get it repaired but the problem is im from Denmark and it's not possible to find any experienced person to make the repair here. So i would like to ship it to a repair business nearby country like UK/Germany if it could get fixed.

Any1 know any business that might be able to complete this repair?

iPhone 4S: How do I fix my iPhones volume?

When I turned down my volume one bar, it would then turn down all by itself! Now, both volume buttons are not working and in order to listen to a Youtube video/ music I have to keep my finger on the volume bar on the screen to keep it from turning down or up by itself.

iPhone 5: Broke off small jumpers when prying battery out of iPhone.

There were apparently 3 extremely small black boxes that I broke off of the motherboard directly beside the sim card, which controlled my Home and Sleep/Wake buttons. Is there a way I can fix this myself? Should I bring it into a phone repair store? Would a phone repair store even work on this? I came here after seeing another thread that a guy had about the same issue, but it was never resolved and I could find no answers about if it's fixable or how they fixed it.

iPhone 6: Help fixing partially snapped iPhone 6?

Hello all,

I am curious to know if my iPhone is worth saving. I am very handy and deal a lot with computers due to my profession but have never repaired a phone. I enjoy learning so this should be fun for me. From what I can tell MOST essential components are relatively intact, The battery I am pretty sure is toast though. I am in no hurry to repair it considering I already purchased a new phone. This will be more of a tinkering project.

Here are my questions. (I have included photos also.. So you guys be the judge on what you think is the best route to go.)

1. Is this even salvageable?

2. What tools would I need/parts?

3. Has anyone repaired a phone this damaged? What issues could I possibly run into with this type of damage?

4. What would the estimated cost be to repair?

Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone 12 Pro: iPhone won't turn on after charger exploded

I have an iPhone 12 Pro. I was charging it in the wall using a 5W original apple plug and USB-C to lightening cable.

The charger blew up (black scorched and totally melted) and flipped the circuit breaker. I am guessing the capacitor in it exploded.

The iPhone originally had a charge but does not turn on now - just a completely unresponsive black screen. It wont charge with a wireless charger either.

Any ideas on where to start? I can't find any guides on the internet for this situation.

I bought an iPhone 12 Pro Max from some marketplace seller and how foolish of me, it turned out to be iCloud locked. My question is would replacing the motherboard help set the phone up as brand new and would there be any errors when replacing it?

iPhone 7 Plus: Screen keeps restarting after screen replacement

I did a screen replacement for an iPhone 7 plus (oem screen) and before I put all the screws and plate on it I test it and it functions fine. When I put the front camera sensor the home button the back plate and the screws that go on the motherboard ( I made sure I didn't misplace them because that could cause the phone to get a blue screen) and close up the phone it keeps restarting just on the Apple logo. Sometimes it would go to the home screen for like 5-10 mins then it shuts back down.

I asked around and they told me it's because of the front camera theirs a sticker that needs to be intact with the camera ( if you don't heat it up good ) can this be true ? Maybe it fried the front camera and it's not letting it turn on ? Anything helps guys thanks !

iTunes does not recognize the iPhone, no matter if i try to put it in recovery or DFU mode.

iTunes and the iPhone has the actual software. I also tried to change the battery, but it didn't help.
