UPS: idiot light meanings and battery replacement

By asking, we all learn and you get points. I have an APC Smart-UPS 700 Uninterruptible Power Supply. I could look this up for myself but then only I would know the answer. I'm a firm believer in Uninterruptible Power Supplies. I've had this one about eight years. It's starting to beep at me a couple of times a day. Probably means I need to replace one of the batteries. Question, should I replace only a bad one or both. How do I tell which one is bad? There are four rows of lights, and eight symbols along with test buttons. It really looks impressive and would be even better if I knew what they meant. I did find the replacement batteries from my battery wholesaler and even at wholesale they are not cheap. Finally a question from me that is answerable ;-) Also what to do with the expended batteries.

UPS APC RS 1000: Overload alarm lights and sound

My ups, after 5 years of continuous operation shows the overload's light .

I unplugged the PC and I replaced the battery but I have not solved the problem.

Then I opened it to see if there are components that are burned or leak but nothing.

To be sure I replaced the cooling fan but nothing has changed.

Can anyone give me some tips?

Thank you very much.

Was away from the office with the UPS running the computer, Screen, Modem, Standard Speakers;

When I went back the computer was shut down as was the UPS system.

Powered on the UPS and it shut down seconds later with a fast beeping.

Checked out the power supply to the UPS unit and found it was working okay.

Disconnected all the out put lines from the UPS and turned the UPS unit back on, it run for a bout 2 seconds started a fast beeping then turned off.

I Have the user manual for this unit but can't find it at the moment.

Any ideas other than blowing taps over the unit and struggle to buy a new one.

UPS APC RS 1000: APC UPS Rs1000 not charging batteries when plugged in on the wall

I found an old APC RS1000 UPS with dead batteries on my storage which I decided to bring back to life so I opened it to replace the dead batteries with fresh new ones.

Problem seems to be when I plug it to the wall, click the ON button for 2 secs, the green light blinks, then the solid ON BATTERY stays forever.

So it runs only from batteries. Not from the wall.

Thinking the circuit breaker may be burned or just malfunctioning, is this something I can just replace? I tried to search using common keywords with and without the brand with no luck.

Any tips will be welcome.

Thanks!

NOTE: All these tests performed WITHOUT any device plugged to the UPS!

And finally I'm attaching these hi res pics of MY OWN UPS main board just in case you spot anything I may be missing. To me everything looks OK and in good shape, AFAIK this ups was fully working before getting stored and the only issue was dead batteries but.... You tell me??

Update (02/02/2023)

Well let's see, first things first, ive read over the Net that these prongs do pop-up a lot but I don't have any reference so I don't know if the below is a standard or an activated circuit breaker....

Wdy think?

Update (02/02/2023)

Next thing I've done is check continuity in these 2 poles, and the multimeter beeped, so I guess it's OK and working, in the locked position "as it is" now?

Update (02/02/2023)

Then I've checked for 220V (I'm in EU) on the upper right corner connectors and they do read 220V so I'm assuming the fuse is working and protecting the circuit so far (aka not "fused").

Am I right till here?

Update (02/02/2023)

So, considering the AC reaches the main board past the circuit breaker, I'm at a loss now since I'm not an electronics pro to read the service circuits mapping...

Googling a bit further i found this article:

https://vasvir.wordpress.com/2021/02/15/...

Which for the Rs1000 mentions the change of 3 capacitors.

So my next question is:

Is there a safe way to test if these capacitors are in working order and if there is (multimeter?) how do I perform the check?

Excuse my ignorance once more!

(apparently this is the image of the Rs1000 main board if you feel you need to point me anything out :))

Update (02/06/2023)

I'll thank any further input on troubleshooting this. Thanks!

Update (02/19/2023)

Some more tests, each one gets me more confused!

WITHOUT the unit plugged to the wall, setting the multimeter to CONTINUITY, instead of BEEPs from the Multimeter, I get these values on its screen:

The one in the middle produces NO reading and NO beep on the multimeter :?

Then setting the multimeter to DC, I get the following:

THEN, PLUGIN the unit on the wall and turning on the UPS, I get this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fjnlawpi12hcqz...

Any insights?

Update (02/26/2023)

So is it normal that plugged on the wall, with the unit turned OFF I'm getting voltage in the battery connectors? And if so, it means batteries do charge. And if so, what else is not acting so the AC does not kick in while there's wall power??

UPS: It won`t charge but It can only use Battery power.

I need help with my UPS. It won`t charge the battery that I replaced but It can use battery power. I replaced the battery that came with the ups (because its defective) and the replacement battery is charged. I replaced the battery with the same specifications (same amps and volts. no slight difference. EXACT). I used the replacement battery and it works fine. After Im done using it. I tried to charge it for 8 hours. Then I use it again. It won`t start and gives slightly-long beeps which means its low. Connectors are brand new and tested with other appliances. Fuses are tested with multimeter (Board fuse 2x 30 amps and fuses at the AC input female). I checked continuity of the wires and all of them are in good shape. Can anyone help me? You can tell me what to do with the board (I have knowledge about electrical and experience in soldering, etc). Do I need to change something like a capacitor or a mosfet in the board? I can send a picture of the board itself ASAP right when you asked for it.

Brand: Powercom Black Knight Pro

Model: BNT-650A / 650A

Board Model: BNT V3.0

Battery: CS3 GP 1272 F2 [12 volts 7.2Ah]

Battery is in good condition. Tested with another UPS.

UPS: Why does my UPS keep tripping a circuit breaker on my main board?

My UPS keeps tripping my mains (at least one of the circuitbreaker it is connected to). Regardless of which plug I use in the wall, the moment i switch on the UPS it trips my mains board. The UPS functions though as I am able to connect devices and use the battery power -- as long as the mains arent connected to the UPS. Faulty board inside the UPS? Could it be the circuit breakerinside the UPS which may be faulty?

UPS: UPS shuts down my PC with continuous beep when playing games.

Knowing my needs I bought a line interactive UPS with 1200VA/720W rating assuming it to be sufficient for my use. But, every time there is a power outage, UPS shuts down my PC with continuous beep while playing games. It works fine with general usage. But with intensive tasks or games, it just shuts down with a continuous beep. It doesn’t seem to sustain heavy loads.

I checked my UPS manual to see what does a continuous beep mean and the manual says it is due to a fault and doesn’t really describe anything else. I thought my PC would hit 600W or so at peak and be able to sustain with this UPS for a short period(1-2mins) every time there is an outage. But it doesn't seem to work. Also, I use this UPS only for my CPU and nothing else. All my other peripherals like monitors, speakers and rest are connected to an other UPS which works fine.

Specs:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x(Air cooled)

Mother Board: B550M Gigabyte Aorus Pro AC

GPU: RTX 3070Ti

Ram: 2X 8GB 3200Mhz Ram

HDD’s: 1X 250GB m.2 NVme SSD, 1X 1TB 7200RPM SATA drive

PSU: Deepcool DQ750-M V2(750W)'

UPS: Zebronics: Zeb-U1225(1200VA/720W)

https://zebronics.com/collections/power-...

''I would like to know if i’m doing something wrong with the setup here. Is the UPS under spec for my PC? or is it really a faulty UPS? Is it not outputting enough power? Or is it something to do with the PSU? If so, what/how do I choose another UPS to support my PC?

I saw a couple of people using APC BR1500(1500VA/865W) UPS to support their gaming rigs. Does 1500VA/865W makes such a change compared to 1200VA/720W? Also, Zebronics UPS outputs a pure sine wave which APC doesn’t.

I’m clueless at this point. Please educate me! I’m worried about busting my new PC due to this. :(

UPS: UPS left alone, unable to power up even with new battery

I've got a APC UPS BE500-AS that's has been left alone for a few months.

When I wanted to use it, I realized the internal lead acid is already flat, and I cannot charge it up with a lead-acid charger.

I bought a new lead acid battery to replace the internal one. It worked fine for a few days. After that I cannot get it to power on anymore.

I've tried the circuit breaker switch on the side and that does not help.

UPS: Zebronics UPS not working.

My UPS,Zebronics ZEB-U725 UPS is not working when there is no main supply. If I switch it on when there is no main supply, momentarily voltage comes on its out put socket (Which can be seen by a volt meter only) then shuts down, even when load is not connected. I checked the battery voltage. It is about 11V. When I switch on the UPS the battery voltage comes slightly down ie it comes down to about 10.5V, then returns to 11V as the UPS shuts down. Please suggest solutions.

UPS: Why does my TV reboot constantly when running off of a UPS’ battery?

My LG CX/C1 (unsure of model) is plugged into an Uninterrupted Power Supply, it works fine while the UPS is plugged into power, but after input is cut, and battery power is used, the TV seems to reboot after 5 seconds of battery power. It turns on, picture appears for a split second, then turns off, and it keeps going like that until power to UPS is restored. The current UPS I have has a capacity of 3000 VA, and supports Buck&Boost AVR.

APC Smart-UPS: Repair or source a UPS transformer?

I have a SUA1500RMI2U, with a cooked transformer.

Replacement is difficult as the exact model of the transformer seems hard to find, due to age. Replacements I do find also seem fairly expensive.

I’ve heard of transformers with inline fuses, and I’m hoping I can repair this one.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start checking if there’s an easy fix or better yet, if there’s a drop in equivalent replacement?

I bought on eBay an used Liebert GXT3 2000VA UPS for my desktop computer. When power goes off (pretty common where I live) the UPS takes over and its alarm immediately starts beeping, something like once every 3 seconds, what for some people/company may be useful, but it is pretty annoying for me.
I am not electronic savvy but I have discover that the electronic component responsible for the alarm sound is a thing called piezoelectric component. Most of these things are like a small cylinder with a hole in the center, but when opening the UPS I could not locate such a thing.
I have 2 questions:

Could anyone point me exactly where it is located ?

How to properly disable it for good ?

Thanks for any help.

UPS: How long does a UPS supply power

Hello, I recently got an Infosec E4 LCD LT UPS, unfortunately the two batteries that came with it were dead, so I replaced them with new ones same capacity and voltage (12v & 7Ah), then I downloaded the software to tweak and monitor the UPS, the temperature is normal 18°C, the output power is 220v 0.5A at 50Hz, which only 12% of the load capability of the UPS.

The batteries take a very long time to get to 100% but when I remove the plug from the outlet to test the UPS then it can only supply power for a maximum of 5mins .

If I’m not mistaken, the batteries voltage is 24v and their capacity should be 3.5Ah since they are in serie, which means 84Wh and I’m consuming 110W (assuming the load as DC current), so it should last at least 45mins.

I didn’t find any approximations in the internet to have an idea on how much time a UPS should take so I hope I don’t have bad batteries, but if so then the fault alarm must be triggered, like when I test it the first time with the dead batteries.
