Saeco Xelsis and GranAroma: Geen koffie enkel water

Starbucks Barista: No water out of the brew head

I have descaled 2x, and cleaned the brew head and portofilter screens, but water no longer comes down thru the brewhead. Water comes out of the steam wand, and steam comes out of the wand too. No problems there. I think what is happening is that the pump is not engaging. I don't hear that customary kick in sound I usually hear when the pump goes on. What do you think my problem is? Is this something I can fix myself? Thanks for your help. I really like this machine!

Starbucks Barista: Steam wand leaking. Not enough pressure for a good shot!

I'm not able to fully close down the steam wand. So, when the machine builds pressure to steam milk - or to pull a shot - the steam wand leaks and releases pressure. My machine is only a couple of years old, but this problem has been getting worse to the point that it's nearly unusable. The espresso I can make with this problem ranges from so-so to undrinkable.

Starbucks Barista: Pump seems to be working, but no shot coming through portafilter.

We've had our Starbucks Barista for years and have used it regularly. Awesome machine. Recently though, we can't get a shot to pull. The pump sounds normal, so, we hear the pump push water into the portafilter, but then, the "swoosh" sound of when the pressure pushes the shot out never comes. Sometimes, water leaks around the portafilter, but most of the time, nothing comes out. When I release the portafilter, it either splats everywhere, but most of the time it is just water and grounds, or just wet grounds. I cleaned the portafilter as recommended on your site and reassembled, but this did not help. I also descaled the machine, and when I did this, I pulled a lot of water & solution through both the wand and the shower head, so I think the pump is ok. But, this did not help either. Any ideas?

Starbucks Barista: No water from the brew head!

I have seen a few posts on this, but looking for help to determine if this is a pump issue. I get water and steam from the wand, the unit heats the water fine, and buttons are all working ok. It primes fine, but no water comes through, even when I remove the portafilter or even if it in place but with no coffee. I removed the screw and checked the filter screen, all clear. I hear a faint pump sound when trying to brew, but not the signature sound that it usually gives when you know the water is on the way. Any help is appreciated.

Starbucks Barista: Pump works, briefly, then gets quieter, doesn't pump

When I start to pull a shot, everything sounds normal, works normally. Then the pump gets very quiet and stops pushing water through the coffee. To me it seems as if a valve gets shut, but the pump is still trying to pump. If I turn it off, then on again, it works briefly, then gets backed up (or loses pressure?) again.

It works fine without the Portafilter in place. It works with an empty PF - but it leaks out the top so much that the pump isn't really being challenged.

All screens are clean, and I've tried single shot pods (my norm) and double shot with Starbucks ground espresso, loosely tamped.

Thanks for your help!!

Starbucks Barista: Groupdhead, where my portafilter fits leaks badly when brewing.

First of all...I did read a post from someone having a similiar problem. But what happened to me is a partial piece of black plastic came out of the Grouphead area some years ago...since then I have continued to brew...but have leakage. Sometimes minimal and sometimes a lot. But I tend to still get a shot. (albeit messy). I found your great site but I wonder if I have to go thru the top of the Barista to fix this (looks daunting) or can I go into the grouphead area and fix from there? I have the SIN006 but it is an older model...serial number is 122643. Thanks for any help u can afford me. Kind regards. Vince

Saeco Coffee Maker: What causes the lack of steam pressure of my espresso Saeco machine?

Hi, I have a 5 years Via Venezia that pours excellent espresso shots. I’ve been having a problem with my steam pressure since a month or two. Although I descaled the boiler with the Saeco formula several times, it seems there is a lack of pressure in the steam wand. I’m able to heat the milk after 2 minutes, but I can’t get a nice steam flow and I’m not able to make the milk swirl anymore (so the milk just stands there and gets heated). It feels like the steam jet is just not strong enough. Again, strong descaling did not improve. I confirm that in the past, descaling was always working. Now it does not improve my steaming. I’m now considering a problem with the heat sensor. Could it be that the water does not turn all into steam completely? Thanks!
