I read The read/write speeds of the Studio's hybrid drive were around 200-300mbps and the Surface Book laptop was 1.6+gbps, which makes the laptop hard drive 5 times faster than the new Studio.

I appreciate all the writeups on this, made it a lot easier to get done.

Everything went fine, hardware wise. Drives both replaced, and both visible to windows install, and no smoke.

I CAN install windows, however when I try to update the iastora Raid driver, I either get a bluescreen, or it hangs on reboot, and never comes back. Same happens when I try to run the latest Surface studio driver pack, it just hangs at boot, where the dots circle.

I posted a bit more detail on microsoft site, but it doesn’t look like they support this.

Has anyone tried this recently, or maybe has some ideas on getting the drivers setup right?

First, thanks for the website. Without this i would not have considered cracking open the old Studio. I've replaced both of the SSDs, and will also replace the fans, one of which was locking up, even after blowing 8 years of dust out of it.

I'm having a very hard time with the tiny little fan connectors. Don't want to rip the cables, even though I have new fans to put in.

How exactly does one release the connector? What does one press on, or push, or prod? I've got my trusty spludger here, but have tried pushing on the ends, the sides, and tried jiggling the connectors, but nothing seems to come out. I half-expected to press the "right thing", and hear a satisfying click -- nothing.

Also, the audio connector came out from the board instead of the inline connector, which I also couldn't figure out how to release.

Anyway, enough whining... I hope someone sees this and takes pity. Also, though I don't wish any ill will, I hope the answer helps someone else out.

Everytime turn on my pc its always updating but after its done it restarts and it says undoing update and i have to wait on that to undo then restart and it goes back to undo for a good 10-20min and then finally it opens.

Please help me!!!!

due to a crash from the table (don't ask... unlucky combination of kids and cats) my front glas is broken and I'm wondering where to get a spare one. Any ideas?
I already checked https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surf... but it seems like they only offer "offical" repacement-parts for newer devices....

I just watch the whole teardown of MS surface studio. It is amazing.

I am going to international exchange to Japan for a while and i would like to bring my surface studio with me. So I would like to learn how to separate the monitor and dock in order to package the monitor well for the flight.

I am thinking if I can remove everything in the base and custom build the PC (by increasing the thickness of the base). I watched the teardown. Do anyone know what kind of connector is used for the monitor? And what kind of additional/unusual ports/adapters are there in studio motherboard
