MacBook Air 11" Late 2010: Compatible replacement battery part number A1375 or A1406

Hello

The macbook air 11" / 2010 (A1370 model) , the battery is swollen and needs changing.

On removing the battery, it says - A1375 ( 020-6921-A)

I presume the A1375 is the battery part number?

I've seen variations of battery replacements on sale.

Does the battery have to be the exact same part number?

Or are there other newer batteries that can be used?

For example the A1406 battery?

Update (01/23/2016)

Hello

I am curious to know, if anyone knows.

Viewing the batteries on offer here: http://www.newertech.com/batteries/

Would a mid 2011 macbook air 11" (battery part number A1406).

Work safely in a late 2010 macbook air 11" ? (Original battery part number A1375).

Whats the difference if any ?

The only difference I see is the part number. The connector plug to logic board, the 35wh wattages are the same as is the7.3 voltage.

Did apple just rename the part number between model years?

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

MacBook Air 13" Mid 2011: LCD Screen Red Channel Flickers Off/On, Freezes

I have a 2011 Macbook Air 13" that has a screen problem. Primarily, the red channel seems to flicker off and on, also sometimes the image freezes where the mouse cursor doesn't move. Putting pressure on the screen seems to make the problem stop, particularly if I press against the back side of the screen like if I were closing the lid. It doesn't take a lot of pressure to make the screen work again just the amount that it takes to put forward pressure against the hinge, but as soon as I let go the problem comes back. An external monitor displays normally so I am certain the problem is in the screen and nothing logic board related. I posted a video below where you can see what I mean as soon as I press on it the flickering stops and as soon as I let go it come back. I couldn't capture it on video since it isn't doing it right now, but sometime the screen just fades to gray.

I am prepared to replace the LCD glass and I'm aware of the difficulty involved, but before I go and order a panel, is there anything else that I can do or check first? I know there are a couple connections along the bottom edge of the screen once the bezel is removed. Is the LVDS connector replaceable on these?

MacBook Air 11" Late 2010: Is it safe for a beginner to upgrade from a harddrive to an SSD?

I'd like to do this on my own, but the most I've done in terms of tinkering with computers is upgrading my old battery on my MacBook Pro (the computer I used to own before this one). I've noticed on ifixit, upgrading a harddrive is considered intermediate.

I really want to do it myself and I want to learn, but I also don't want to ruin my computer by accidentally doing it wrong.

My main issue is this harddrive only has 60 gb of storage and many of the programs I run tend to run slow and crash a lot. Specifically I use photoshop and iMovie and they are incredibly buggy and regularly freeze or crash.

MacBook Air 11" Early 2015: Water spill, keyboard and trackpad not working.

Hello Guys,

I have a Macbook Air 2015 A1465. (Not sure if it is Early or Late)

I just spilled water in the trackpad and suddenly it stopped working BOTH the keyboard and the trackpad.

The funny thing is that the KEYBOARD power button works and it boots :) (Crazy right?)

HOWEVER

I just opened it, saw that the trackpad connectors (actually all of them) it connects the keyboard, the trackpad with 2 flats, and one connectors that I GUESS connects everything with the MOTHERBOARD.

I used WD40 thinking that it would FIX IT. It doesn't..

My biggest doubt is do I need just to buy a new trackpad, since all the connectors (keyboard, trackpad, motherboard) and it will works?

OR

Do I need to buy also the FLEX CABLE that links everything to the motherboard?

AND/OR

a new keyboard also? (I am guessing that the keyboard is not the problem at all). Everything makes me think that the central connections from the trackpad was the thing that is broken OR only the flex that connects to the motherboard.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

How do I know the Apple Part Number?

I saw one trackpad from a Macbook Air 2011 it looks the same from both sides, but does it work? Does it need to be the exactly same part number, since it actually looks 100% the same?

MacBook Air 11" Early 2014: LCD Fuse Blown, Any Advice?

So, I have a Macbook Air 11" 2014, and I was a dumb***. The person who has it dropped it and physically damaged the screen, half the screen was covered in LCD destruction mess. So I decided to replace the screen myself. Mistake number one: I plugged in a screen from a 2011 Macbook air 11". It worked, somehow. The LCD on that one was broken too, but it was a start. I grabbed another screen and plugged it in. Powered it on, instant bad smoke smell. The backlight fuse is toast. I know it's the one with the P on it, question is, anyone know the exact model of it? Also I don't have any tools besides a soldering iron... so I am by no means a professional I may take a shot at this.

Here's a picture of it.

MacBook Air 11" Early 2015: MacBook Air charging, but won't stay on without charger connected

I just got this 2015 MacBook Air with a coffee spill. Upon internal inspection, there was definitely some coffee near the trackpad and battery, and by the IO board as well. The only moisture indicator that was red was the one on the flex cable connecting the IO board to the MLB.

Initially, the MacBook would not run without the charger plugged in (though the battery does charge) and it would not detect the SSD.

I thoroughly scrubbed everything with a brush and 99% isopropyl, and now I'm installing OS X on the ssd, but I'm not able to power on the MacBook without the charger connected.

The MagSafe indicates when charging and when fully charged. I've attempted SMC reset and NVRAM as well.

Could this fault be repaired by a replacement IO board?

Update (08/08/2016)

Thanks for the advice Dan. I've never seen coconut battery recognize a battery that OS X doesn't. Is there some other function of coconut battery I don't know about?

As the gods smile upon me, the thorough cleaning and battery replacement did the trick. All is well!

MacBook Air 13": MacBook not turning on. No charging light on MagSafe.

Issue:

Okay, so firstly this is not my MacBook Air and nor do I know much about them, so please keep things simple. This is my friends device, he said it was being used as normal and then it suddenly switched off and never powered up again - the battery was apparently at 40% at the time.

I have tried all the above fixes with no success so far. Upon trying a new charger the charging light initially turned orange before going off again, this makes me think that there is some kind of charging issue. Also the screen occasionally shows that the device is charging before quickly going off again.

Is the issue the charging port, the battery or perhaps something else. Any help and direction would be kindly appreciated as I'm afraid I have little experience working with Macs.

My 13" MBA late 2010 logicboard apparently is damaged and I need to change it. I took it out and tried to clean it but it didn't make a difference.

Since I was thinking of buying a 4gb version I noticed in your guide all the connectors as well as screw positions seem identical to the 2011 model (except the keyboard light which wouldn't be used anyway)

MacBook Air 13" Late 2010: Internal Speakers not present only Headphones

Hello Team,

I have a very frustrating issue.

A customer has come to my shop with a this Macbook air for the internal sound not working.

First of all I noticed that the "Alt Sound Option" was only showing Headphones, when none were plugged in.

So I replaced the IO board and data flex connecting it to the main board, no change to issue.

Then I used a USB drive with a known good copy of OSX on it, no change to issue

Next I replaced the logic board, no change to issue.

Next I removed the logic board from the chassis incase there was some kind of short from the casing, I set the logic board and IO board up in my test bay and connected only the required hardware to boot the device.

So the state of play so far is, new logic board, new IO board and flex, no SSD, OSX loaded from external HDD, no wifi board, new internal speakers connected, new fan.

THE ISSUE IS STILL PRESENT.

How can this be possible?

I should note that the start up chime works .

Also when using headphones the sound is really low on both IO boards and logic boards, but when I would use the MIDI setup and mute either channel one or two on the output the sound is at the correct volume on the headphones.

Also note internal speakers do not appear anywhere in the MIDI setup only headphones, even with new parts.

Any Help would let me sleep tonight.
