I bought some ceramic knives when I had my steel one sharpened. Loved them—for say 6 months. Then—well, steel knives I sharpen with the steel, and then have them ground. With ceramics—sharpening professionally is $$$$.

I'm not getting a lasting edge anymore. I spent some time with a machete on the sharpener and may have damaged it.

Kitchenware: How to disassemble Foodsaver Big Game Sealer.

I recently purchased a Big Game sealer, but it is not receiving power when plugged in. I've seen how-tos for older sealers, but not this one. There appear to be sealed screw wells, but I've tried prying those out to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm assuming one of the power connections came loose.

Kitchenware: Clean the limescale on the kettle

We have a disc electric kettle at work, we use it for more than a year, there was a scale on the disc, it became unpleasant to drink tea. Just rinse and rinse does not help, what can you clean? I would be glad to hear your suggestions!

I have many knife sharpeners, but none of them give me the RAZOR sharp edge I want/need. Any recomendations ? My electric sharper, for example sharps BUT IT ALSO GRINDS DOWN THE METAL TOO MUCH.

Kitchenware: How do I rejoin a stainless knife

I have a set of stainless cutlery and the knives are two parts (the blade and a handle). Several of the knives have come apart. I have tried several different glues but none seem to work. The finished product must be able to withstand washing (hopefully in a dishwasher). Any suggestions?

I tried this but because the area where the glue goes is not exposed to air, the glue didn't seem to 'set'.

Chef's Choice M115: This device does not sharpen my knives well

Kitchenware: Hand mixer stops after 5 seconds

I have a 5 speed Viking hand mixer that stops after 5 seconds. When I turn it on it goes right to top speed and then stops. When I unplug it and plug it back in it runs for another 5 seconds and stops. Hopefully this rings a bell to someone.

Knife: Chunk missing from knife handle

I have a large chefs knife with a full length metal tang. The hard plastic? handle material has come away either side of a hole through which the two sides of the handle connect. I have one piece but the other is missing. What glue/epoxy/material would be good to form the missing piece and attach to the knife and loose handle piece?

I have a 120 since 2007. Worked great and the sharpening is not happening as much. I cannot find a place, including Chefs Choice, that will replace, repair or otherwise help my device. Anyone have a source for repair or parts?

Kitchenware: My Black + Decker toaster oven toasts but doesn't bake

I have a toaster oven by Black + Decker with a model number of 3073283. All 4 heating elements function properly during the toast functionality, but any other option refuses to heat and the power light does not turn on.

When setting a temperature in oven mode and turning the timer knob, you can hear the clicks of the timer counting down and you can no longer set duration using the toaster duration knob. This usually indicates that it switched out of toast mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all,

I've recently bought a Delonghi / Nespresso Lattissima One (EN500.W) on ebay which was sold as faulty. I bought it as a project to try and fix it. Basically its stuck in descaling mode. The pump won't run when the machine is switched on. All the machine does is blink - all of the lights on the top blink rapidly. Pressing any of the three buttons doesn't do anything, no matter how long they are pressed for or in any combination. I've already bought and fitted a replacement pump for it, thinking it was the pump that was faulty. Sadly not; the machine handling exactly the same thing. I'm now at a loss as to what the issue might be. I'm thinking maybe a faulty flowmeter? But I really need some advice from someone with more experience at fixing coffee machines than me to point me in the right direction.

Kitchenware: Why are holes forming in the aluminum pans?

So I do salads and I put a number of my toppings in the small square aluminum pans. Items like cucumbers tomatoes chesee feta mozzarella and so on on the cold storage side. Recently I have been coming back the next day after wrapping the containers with foil an leaving in chiller for next day I see water underneath on close inspection I see little holes in a few pans. Looking like something ate a hole?

Kitchenware: glue for fine china

When I was young we could buy something called China Weld, a clear glue that is good for ceramics. I can't seem to find anything thin and clear now that could also go through the dishwasher. Any suggestions? I am in Canada, but could have something shipped as my mug is special to me, and just the handle is broken. I could handwash, if necessary.
