Hi. I have this hp 530 since 2007, and I really want to revive it in 2026. It had a win 10 modified and kind of work well, but I'm really in the mood to start using linux. I upgrade it with: 3gb RAM, SSD, new battery and installing the distro Q4OS... and I thought that a lot of apps and emulators could run flawless. But it's not working on some games, work for some time and then shuts down, the fan it's quite noisy, and seems that some apps doesn't using the GPU.

HP EliteBook 845 G8: Security Privacy replacement of screen

My screen came with the "Security Privacy" option on this HP 845 G8. The touch screen function is disabled. By design, I've never liked the viewing angles that it forces on the user. Now that I don't require the privacy screen nearly as much in my work, is it possible to change this screen out for a "standard" and/or "touch screen" version? This might be better asked of HP. Otherwise all is working just fine but just am curious to know what my options are.

I don't see a "HID - compliant touch screen" entry in Device manager. I don't believe the "Privacy Screen" function is integrated into a "touch screen" on this HP Notebook. This would then suggest that if I was to replace my screen there would have to be two different models for me to choose from.

Can anyone confirm this? What are the part #'s of each ?

HP G50: My screen hedges are detached from the cover.

My screen hedges are detached. The screws sockets holding the the down and the top part of the laptop are broken. Can even open the laptop properly without the cover coming off.
